Chael Sonnen's Wedding Will Not Affect Fight With Shogun Rua

Chael Sonnen (27-13-1) has many roles in his life including: mixed martial artist, anaylst on “UFC Tonight” and promoter.

Now the former title contender will be delving into the new role of husband.

Sonnen recently tied the knot with fiance Brittany Sonnen, formerly Smith, who he met at a mixed martial arts event many years ago.

In an interview with the “Steve Austin Show” podcast, Chael recalled how he first met Brittany and had asked to borrow her phone. As he held her phone in his hands, he secretly called his own number to make sure Smith’s was in his call list. Over time he eventually won her over.

Brittany made an announcement of her own on her Twitter regarding the ceremony.

Although he had just gotten married, I think Chael will be more than ready for his fight against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (21-7) in August. In fact, this may give him more motivation to beat Rua, not only because he is on a two-fight losing streak, but also he will want to have the victory be the latest good thing in his life.

Looking past the Rua fight, will Sonnen continue to fight now that he is a married man? I think his love for MMA and wrestling is too great to quit at the moment.
