Los Angeles Dodgers to Activate Carl Crawford From Disabled List

Starting tomorrow, the Los Angeles Dodgers will have outfielder Carl Crawford back as he’s expected to be activated from the disabled list. They’ll also have an unhappy outfielder.

Per Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times:

Carl Crawford will be in SF tomorrow.

With Matt Kemp and Yasiel Puig entrenched as starters, that leave Andre Ethier as the odd man out. The Dodgers are expected to ease Crawford into his starting role since he’s been out since late May with a hamstring strain, but assuming all parties are healthy the Dodgers will have four starting outfielders for three spots.

Normally, that wouldn’t be an issue as a trade could be worked out but after Ethier recently signed a five year, $85 million dollar extension this past offseason, it’s been reported the Dodgers would have to cover at least $40 million of the salary just to move him.

Either way, Crawford should regain his starting role in the very near future, pushing Ethier to a pinch hitting/reserve outfielder role.
