It really shouldn’t come as a shock to anybody that Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant is the wealthiest player in the NBA, though, the separation between he and the second richest player, Kevin Garnett, is pretty significant.
Three-quarters of the top 10 ultra wealthy National Basketball Association (NBA) players were drafted in the mid-1990s, suggesting longevity in the sport and corporate endorsements are key to wealth for today’s athletes.
These are the findings by Wealth-X, the ultra high net worth (UHNW) business development solution for private banks, luxury brands, educational institutions and non-profits, which released its ranking of ultra wealthy players following this year’s NBA Draft.
On the above page is a downloadable PDF file where WealthX.com ranked the top ten richest NBA players with Kobe topping the list at an impressive estimated worth of $220 million. Kevin Garnett, who we previously mentioned as ranking second came in at a respectable $190 million. The Miami Heat‘s LeBron James ranked third at $130 million while his teammate Ray Allen and San Antonio Spurs icon Tim Duncan rounded out the top five at $100 million each.
