The Brooklyn Nets are going to be in need of some guard depth, but with little money to spend, they’re going to have to find a diamond in the rough.
They’re hoping that either Shaun Livingston or John Lucas could be just that.
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, both are atop the wish list of the Nets:
Nets still chasing one more point guard. Rumblings in circulation have Shaun Livingston and John Lucas at top of Brooklyn’s list
While neither name exactly sets the world on fire, both have drawn interest around the league.
Lucas III spent last season with the Toronto Raptors, though, struggled in his reduced minutes only shooting 38% from the field. Livingston on the other hand, a one time lotto pick who nearly had his career destroyed by a gruesome knee injury had an impressive season with the Cleveland Cavaliers where he averaged over 7 points on 50% from the field, including 3.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds a game in 23 minutes.
For a bench guard, you could certainly do worse, especially in Livingston’s case.
