Well that was quick. No more than fifteen minutes after reports leaked that the San Antonio Spurs were nearing a deal with Marco Belinelli, Yahoo Sports reports (first reported by ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne) that the two sides have agreed on a two year, $6 million dollar contract.
San Antonio has reached agreement on a two-year, approximately $6 million deal with free agent Marco Belinelli, league sources tell Y!
It’s just another in a long line of smart, financially stable moves by the San Antonio Spurs front office which has become the envy of the league. Belinelli, one of the better bench guards in the league will help stretch the floor while providing an offensive punch off the bench.
Despite the addition, the Spurs do plan to attempt to bring back Gary Neal, who is currently a restricted free agent. It’s not expected Neal will get many (if any) offers outside of the Spurs given his restricted status.
Assuming Neal does return, the addition of Belinelli and the re-signing of both Manu Ginobili and Tiago Splitter effectively should all but end the Spurs’ free agent spending.
