The San Antonio Spurs, looking for bench depth, have reportedly zeroed in on Marco Belinelli, who spent last season with the Chicago Bulls.
The sharpshooting Belinelli had a wonderful season in Chicago filling in for the injured Rip Hamiltion (and Derrick Rose, to a lesser extent) and is now looking to cash in and win, something he’ll be able to do in San Antonio.
According to Yahoo Sports, both the Spurs and Belinelli are nearing a deal to bring the 27 year old to the Alamo.
San Antonio is engaged in serious talks with free agent Marco Belinelli, league sources tell Y! Sports.
It’s a wonderful fit for both parties, assuming the talks advance into a contract. Belinelli is one of the better off the bench guards in the league and shouldn’t be overly pricey for the Spurs, who are now watching their dollars after bringing back Tiago Splitter and Manu Ginobili.
A solid three point shooter with, Belinelli should space the floor well for the Spurs in addition to proving a scoring punch off the bench.
