The Sacramento Kings have their hands in a variety of situations right now, one of which is the potential impending trade involving the New Orleans Pelicans. Kings star Tyreke Evans has informed the Pelicans he intends to sign their offer sheet, something the Kings have reportedly balked at matching. The two sides have been discussing a sign and trade for point guard Greivis Vasquez, but the initial plan was to acquire Vasquez then trade him. Why? Because the Kings wanted to sign Detroit Pistons free agent point guard, Jose Calderon. However, according to Yahoo Sports, Calderon passed on the Kings’ offer:

Free agent Jose Calderon passed on chance to sign w/ Kings, clearing way for Sacramento to complete 3-way deal w/ Pelicans, sources tell Y!

Kings wanted to sign Calderon, and move Pelicans’ Greivis Vasquez elsewhere in three-way deal, sources tell Y! Sports.

There’s been no reason as to why Calderon passed on the Kings’ offer or what the contract offer way. There’s also been no word if the Kings will continue their efforts to sign Calderon.
