The Sacramento Kings have decided not to match the offer sheet that the New Orleans Pelicans put forth for Tyreke Evans, and the two teams are expected to complete a sign-and-trade that will send Robin Lopez and Greivis Vasquez to Sacramento.
The Kings will not match the four-year, $44 million offer sheet that Tyreke Evans has agreed to sign with the New Orleans Pelicans. According to sources close to the situation, the new Kings management group instead is hoping to close Thursday on a sign-and-trade agreement involving Pelicans point guard Greivis Vasquez and backup center Robin Lopez.
Getting rid of Lopez and Vasquez will clear up a little bit of cap space for the Pelicans and help the trade go through. Vasquez had a decent season last year, but with the arrival of Jrue Holiday, the point guard position would be very crowded in New Orleans. The Kings themselves lack depth at the position and adding a pass-first type of a point guard should definitely help the team.
