Motown’s Money Analysis
Despite being the Grey Cup Champs, Toronto gets no respect in this spot as they opened as 4 point dogs, but are now 7 point dogs in Vancouver. A pretty wide margin of what gamblers like to call “Steam” – where a line gets attacked and moves rapidly in a short period based on large wagers on one side, in this case, the BC Lions. Where the money comes from is anyone’s guess – people smarter than myself usually.
BC was all but out in their game in Calgary but rallied to make a game of it still losing by 12. Toronto picked up their game in the 4th quarter to cue the rally and win by 5 – whether they should have or not. BC as one of the “elite” teams of the CFL do not drop in the power rankings after one game, and thus for as now a 7 point favorite are in a great spot to beat on the defending Grey Cup champs.
The first game of both squads showed a strong offensive tendency and thus we will lean on the over 52.5 for the moment with 2 QB’s that want to throw the ball, passing being a staple in the CFL for excitement. Keep in mind the Argo’s allowed 31 points in the first half of last week’s game, but just 3 in the second.
Tor K Waters went down with a groin injury last week and will be out a few weeks, bringing back veteran K Noel Prefontaine who was sitting on the sidelines in retirement, back to the field.
The Computer likes the Lions by 5.4 points which beats the opening line, but not quite the new line of 7 points. It particularly shows more love on the over by 4 points on the current line of 53. As a result we will only bet the total, as whatever edge we had on the Spread we had to bet early on, and thus not worth betting at this time.
Dyce For Dummies
There seems to be a strong possibility that this goes over 53. In the NFL it takes defenses to catch up with offenses once a seasons begin. Offenses usually have a tendency to get the better of defenses early on, they don’t know what to expect.
These two teams have been able to display their offensive prowess in their week 1 games and it seems like they shouldn’t have a problem putting up 53 points.
