New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia has had quite the impressive and durable career to this point. On Wednesday night he downed the Minnesota Twins (shocking) as he usually does, but it was not your average victory for a man who pumps out so many W’s a year.
No, this was a special one, victory number 200 for Sabathia.
It should not stop here for Sabathia. For all we know he has 300 wins in him. He’s 33 years old. Think 300 is impossible? Craig Calcaterra of Hard Ball Talk says you are wrong:
Being conservative, let’s say he wins seven more games this year. That puts him at 207. He’d then only need to average 15 wins and change over six more years to reach that magic milestone by his age-38 season. If he pitches through his age-40 season he’d only need 11 wins a year and change.
200 is still an absolutely amazing milestone. That said, 300 is certainly not out of reach. With how durable he has been over the course of his entire career, it may be time to start chronicling the march to 300 for Sabathia.
