Former Duke star Mason Plumlee was the No. 21 overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Brooklyn Nets. He has since agreed to a rookie contract and is apparently impressing everyone already.

Plumlee impressing should not be a surprise given his track record at Duke. Still, he’s earning some high praise from head coach Jason Kidd according to Tim Bontemps at The New York Post

"“I thought Mason looked great,” Kidd said. “He’s a rookie, so we’re going to be tough on him and ask a lot.“But I think he understands that situation. … I think the biggest thing is his energy. I think he has a lot to learn about the game, but he had a good morning.”"

Plumlee still has a long way to go, but it is encouraging to hear him having an impact this early already. He will come off the bench for the duration of his rookie season as he learns from the likes of Kevin Garnett and others.

Right now Plumlee is doing all the right things, hence his high selection in the draft. Expect big things from him next season in a limited capacity as he learns the ropes.
