Dwight Howard to sign with Houston Rockets

We have a winner. According to a report from Sam Amick of USA Today, highly sought after free agent center Dwight Howard has decided to sign with the Houston Rockets. He will make the move official on July 10. The Rockets beat out the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks in the Howard sweepstakes.

The Rockets were the first team to meet with Howard during free agency and it looks like their pitch made a positive impression.

When you team Howard up with James Harden, the Rockets have a formidable duo that could help elevate the team to the next level. It will be interesting to see if the Rockets decide to go out and add a third superstar to the mix.

Free agency kicked off just after midnight on Monday, so be sure to stay tuned to FanSided.com throughout the free agency period as we keep you up to date with the latest news and rumors from around the league.
