The Charlotte Bobcats had a cap hold of over $4 million dollars with free agent Josh McRoberts, so to make it easier to sign Al Jefferson both McRoberts and the Cats agreed on a two year, $6 million dollar contract this afternoon. The second year will be a player option.

Per Yahoo’s Marc Spears:

Bobcats forward Josh McRoberts agrees to re-sign with two-year, $6 million contract with a players option in 2nd year, source tells Y! Sports

It’s a fantastic deal for McRoberts who should see a solid amount of playing time with the Bobcats and can try to play himself into a bigger contract next season, if he so inclines.

As for the Cats, it’s hard to hate on it. It’s relatively cheap and McRoberts, while not exactly athletically gifted, is a smart player who does a handful of things on a basketball court well. McRoberts could have provided more value to a better team, but in terms of playing time, he wasn’t going to find much more on the open market.
