Apparently, New York Yankees (uh, star?!) Alex Rodriguez knows he’s not the most popular guy in the world.
Speaking to USA Today, via ESPN, A-Rod says he is determined to come back to the Yankees and prove he can still play as he wants to be a man of his word.
“I know people think I’m nuts,” the embattled Rodriguez told USA Today Sports. “I know most people wouldn’t want the confrontation. Most people would say, ‘Get me out of here. Trade me. Do anything.’
“But I’m the [expletive] crazy man who goes, ‘I want to compete. I want to stay in New York. I refuse to quit.’
“Maybe it’s stupidity, I don’t know, but I’m wired to compete and give my best. I have a responsibility to be ready to play as soon as I can.”
He’s certainly right on one account – most players would have already found themselves a greener pasture if possible, except, nobody wants A-Rod’s contract so he’s essentially been forced to stay in New York despite the Yankees desire to move him.
