Rehsad Jones Wants To Be One Of The NFL’s Best Safeties

The Miami Dolphins and safety Reshad Jones haven’t been able to come to a resolution over contract disputes. But that hasn’t cause Jones to lose his motivation.

“I can only get better,” Jones said, via the team’s website. “I got the ball rolling in the right direction and I just told myself I want to be recognized as one of the premiere safeties in this league. I think last year I went out and showed that to the world and I just want to keep it going.”

Jones missed some of the Dolphins off-season workouts while trying to resolve his contract situation. The Dolphins promised to talk to him about his contract situation but they haven’t talked yet.

If they don’t talk to him about his contract situation before the 2013 season, that won’t stop Reshad Jones from going out and trying to have a great season. Jones had a very strong season in 2012 and could be in the discussion of best safeties in the league in 2013 if he continues to get better.

It is a gamble by the Dolphins. If they don’t sign him to a long term extension before the season and he does elevate his play he can only drive the price up.
