The New York Knicks are looking to sign another point guard, or their third for those keeping count. Sebastian Telfair, for the vet minimum, is the most likely candidate to fill the role and the one they’re targeting closely. Telfair is Stephon Marbury’s cousing and an alum of the local Lincoln High School alum.
“He certainly would consider the Knicks strongly,’’ agent Andy Miller said, via the New York Post.
The Knicks aren’t locked in on the hometown product, Telfair. The team’s front office has also reached out to reps for Earl Watson, Will Bynum, Aaron Brooks and Devin Harris.
Returning to his hometown could be an exciting and motivating move for Telfair and could set him up to thrive at the Garden. Rotoworld though has a different diagnosis of Telfair’s future in New York should he sign.
“Telfair went to Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn and jumped straight to the pros, but this would be the first time he calls NY home as he enters his 10th season in the NBA. He would just provide depth and would not have fantasy value in almost all leagues.”
Telfair is entering his ninth NBA season and played 59 games between Phoenix and Toronto last year.
