According to a handful of reliable sources, including both Danny Knobler of CBS and Fox’s Ken Rosenthal, the Los Angeles Dodgers are nearing a trade for Miami Marlins starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco.
#Dodgers in serious talks for #Marlins’ Nolasco. Would trade 3 prospects, none upper echelon. “Getting close,” one source says.
While a handful of teams have attempted to acquire Nolasco in the past few weeks, both the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants were considered the favorites as of last night. Both teams were in talks to acquire the pitcher, but the Dodgers were only willing to offer one prospect at the time but would cover the remaining portion of Nolasco’s salary. San Francisco on the other hand was offering two prospects but requested Miami cover a portion of Nolasco’s salary. Apparently, the Dodgers, knowing they were nearing a deal decided to one up the Giants’ offer and now are offering three prospects, though none are of the elite variety.
It appears the Marlins are just hoping to strike luck with quantity, if it’s the route they go for.
