New York Knicks Carmelo Anthony, Amare, Will Train With Hakeem Olajuwon

I’m not exactly sure Carmelo Anthony and Hakeem Olajuwon are a match made in heaven, at least from a skills standpoint, but when a great offers his help – you take it. And that’s exactly what New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony did when The Dream reached out to the former Syracuse Orangeman.

According to Jared Zwerling, Melo will train with the former Houston Rockets legend this Summer, most likely in between the time Olajuwon spends with Dwight Howard.

Per Zwerling:

Carmelo Anthony is planning to train w/ Hakeem Olajuwon this offseason, as well as Amar’e Stoudemire for the second summer in a row. #Knicks

In addition to Carmelo, as Zwerling points out, Amar’e Stoudemire will also join in on the festivities. Why the most logical candidate to benefit from Olajuwon’s skill set and knowledge, Tyson Chandler, isn’t working out with The Dream is unknown.

Melo is hoping Olajuwon can help him improve his already solid post game, both on offense and defense.

If Melo and stat are training with Hakeem then bargnani would be around Hakeem. If he learned post moves from the great Hakeem. I think he would be dominate. It would teach him how to work the paint and get more rebounds ESP on the offensive glass and with him working the paint they would have to double and Melo would be open to shoot that would be a mix that would be a nightmare and you can’t double both and if you try jr is open shump is open hardaway jr is open. You also got amare off the bench. That’s scary. When Melo cuts down on the shots and makes that extra pass the knicks would be unstoppable. You can’t forget about Tyson working defense in bargnani’s head two 7 footers rebounding and playing d that’s like dirk being in New York! Mike Woodson has a great team with alot of potential and Felton has what it takes to run the offense. Adding Aaron brooks or will Bynum to that mix or Devin Harris would be great too resigning Kenyon would also be another veteran presence to hammer defense in everyone’s head. And New York would be the Mecca of the basketball would. And the blood thirsty Melo would get the ring he’s been chasing for ten years not. You don’t have to do it by yourself. You have your team and your city behind you. Ready to go to war. Strap up the troops and win the championships you know you deserve. I believe in you and all your fans do too. #knickstapechampions 13-14
