The Los Angeles Lakers are now scrambling to add depth to the roster in the wake of losing Dwight Howard and his antics to the Houston Rockets.
In the latest batch of NBA rumors surrounding free agency, the Lakers want to do a deal with Chris Kaman. Reports say the interest in mutual.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports was, of course, the first to break the news of both sides having interest in doing a deal:
Discussions are still in the formative stages, but Kaman has a reputation as a hard-working, dependable 7-footer who can fill a needed role.
Kaman played his first eight NBA seasons for the Los Angeles Clippers, and a return to Southern California to join the Lakers has strong appeal to him, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.
Woj goes on to say the Warriors, Hawks, Kings and Knicks have expressed interest.
It’s great news for Kaman, who will play a leadership role off the bench pretty much no matter where he ends up. It’s also great for the Lakers as they need a stop-gap solution with Howard gone.
