Larry Bird Praises and Teases Danny Ainge

Larry Bird, who is president of basketball operations for the Indiana Pacers talked to reporters at the 2013 Orlando Summer League. Despite his affiliation with the Pacers organization he still has ties to the Celtics community and will always. So eventually he was asked about the dismantling of the Boston Celtics by his former teammate Danny Ainge.

“Danny Ainge knows what he’s doing,” Larry Bird said, via Hoops World. “He’s had great success. He’s won a championship. I never doubt Danny Ainge, I only doubt him when he had the ball in his hands with three seconds to go, but not in the position he has now. Danny does a good job. You do get older, you can’t beat father time. I’m sure things will work out.”

But being on the business side of basketball Larry Bird understands the moves Danny Ainge is making with the Celtics.

“You always have to look out for the franchise. You always do.”
