Many NBA players try to take a break from basketball and let their bodies and minds rest during the offseason. But you’d think that a player would stay tuned when his teammate is about to make a decision on where he will play next season, especially when that teammate is Dwight Howard. Well, apparently Metta World Peace didn’t know.

Metta was caught on video by TMZ, and a reporter naturally popped the question, asking for his reaction on Howard’s decision to sign with the Houston Rockets. His answer was rather surprising:

“He’s going to Houston? I gotta call him I don’t know. I’ll call him tomorrow and see, I don’t know. I don’t know what he does, you know.”

Apparently, when the offseason rolls around, Metta doesn’t pay attention to basketball and missed the big news. You never know — Metta might be trolling, which wouldn’t be surprising but watching the video his reaction seemed genuine.

Another slightly surprising thing was that Metta didn’t seem to care that much.
