Almost as soon as Trey Burke was selected with the ninth pick in the 2013 NBA Draft and then sent to the Utah Jazz, he said that he wants to start for the team in the upcoming season. Sunday evening Burke stepped out on the court for his Summer League debut, but couldn’t quite find his rhythm.
After the game, Burke admitted that he was a little nervous out on the floor and had the following to say:
“I think I played a solid game, my shot wasn’t falling but I think a lot of times I was kind of hesitant out there. That’s not usually how I play, I usually play with a free mind and when I play like that I perform better.” – Trey Burke
Burke struggled mightily with his shot, connecting on just one of his 12 field goal attempts. However, that didn’t deter the young guard from attacking the rim, where he was able to either draw fouls or dump off the ball to his teammates for easy dunks. He finished with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in just over 32 minutes of action, helping the Jazz to a 69-59 victory over the Miami Heat.
