We have known for a while the New York Knicks have interest in free agent point guard Aaron Brooks but nothing has yet to come of the interest.

Several reports have come out recently reaffirming the Knicks interest in Brooks, and also state the team has interest in Shawne Williams.

ESPN’s Jared Zwerling had both reports on Twitter:

Brooks is still 28 years old and averaged seven points and two assists per game last season. That did not stop the Houston Rockets from letting him go in order to clear room for Dwight Howard.

New York does not have a lot of cash to work with, and Brooks is just one name the team has been kicking the tires on this free agency period. He’d be a great fit in a depth role. On the other hand, Williams would not bring much to the table but makes sense to help fill out the roster if the team cannot bring in anyone else.
