Report: Texas Longhorns QB Connor Brewer to Transfer

News has surfaced today that Texas Longhorns redshirt freshman quarterback Connor Brewer has decided to transfer from the program. The news first surfaced on Horns247 that Brewer would be leaving the program after receiving a medical redshirt in his true freshman season.

From Horns247:

Horns247 has learned that redshirt freshman quarterback Connor Brewer has decided to transfer and, as of today, is no longer with the team. The Texas backup quarterback has announced his intentions to transfer to the coaching staff and it should be made official tomorrow from Texas.

Brewer and true freshman Tyrone Swoopes were expected to battle for the backup quarterback gig.

There are no teams that immediately surfaced as a potential landing spot for the former four-star recruit, but the expectation is that Brewer will transfer to the West Coast closer to his home of Paradise Valley, Arizona.

When Brewer originally committed to the Longhorns, he picked the school over the likes of Alabama, Stanford, Miami, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas A&M, LSU and Arizona.
