The Cleveland Cavaliers have been believed to be the favorite to land free agent center Andrew Bynum after offering him a two-year, $24 million. Bynum met with the Dallas Mavericks today, but it looks like no one was willing to post the kind of money that he could earn in Cleveland. As a result, Bynum reportedly signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday evening.
Bynum has been plagued by knee injuries that caused him to miss all of last season and become a huge bust for the Philadelphia 76ers, but there is still plenty of potential for Bynum that interested the Cavaliers.
If Bynum can stay healthy and compete at a high level for the Cavaliers, the team could have a great inside-outside game with Bynum and star guard Kyrie Irving.
The Cavaliers contract offer looks like a lot of money to invest in an injury-prone big man, but the deal reportedly has just $6 million guaranteed.
With the Mavericks missing out on Bynum, look for them to turn their attention towards working out a deal with Andrew Bogut.
