The Dallas Mavericks haven’t had the greatest success with their free agent center targets. After failing in their pursuit of top target Dwight Howard, the team has been flirting with Andrew Bynum who they met with today. However, Bynum looks like he is destined for the Cleveland Cavaliers, so the Mavericks will once again be looking for a fall back plan.
For the Mavericks, that could be veteran big man Samuel Dalembert.
From Marc Stein of ESPN.com:
ESPN sources says Mavs remain in pursuit of Bynum but also have Bucks free agent Samuel Dalembert as prime target if Bynum pursuit fizzles

Dalembert is a serviceable center that could give the Mavericks some solid production, but no one is going to confuse him with Dwight Howard and he certainly doesn’t have the upside of a player like Andrew Bynum.
It will be interesting to see what the Mavericks do to ultimately address their center position, but it looks like they have plenty of plans in the works.
