MLB Trade Rumors 2013: New York Yankees Aggressively Trying to Trade Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain

It’s been a rough season for the New York Yankees who’ve dealt with an overly absurd amount of injuries, yet, they’re still in the thick of things in the American League East. Currently sitting six games behind the division leading Boston Red Sox, the Yankees are trying their best to re-load and have been dangling pitchers Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes in attempts to do so.

According to a report from Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, the Bronx Bombers are aggressively attempting to trade both and could be nearing completion of a Chamberlain trade to an unnamed National League team.

Per Rosenthal:

AL exec: “Yanks aggressively pushing Joba, Hughes. Joba could happen soon to NL team.” Source says #Yankees talking on both, nothing close.

It’s a little odd to see a team in the mix for a potential playoff run offer up a starting pitcher, let alone two, but with Ivan Nova and Michael Pineda in the wings it appears the Yankees are confident in their ability to step up.
