NBA Free Agency 2013: Atlanta Hawks Interested in Mo Williams

While the Atlanta Hawks have shown some interest in both Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings of the Milwaukee Bucks, it can’t be assumed that a sign and trade deal will be worked out. Knowing that, the Hawks have been swimming around in the free agent pool, looking for backcourt help.

They’ve apparently stumbled upon some in Mo Williams.

Per ESPN’s Marc Stein:

To complicate things further? Hearing Hawks have also registered some interest in free-agent PG Mo Williams, who worked w/Danny Ferry in CLE

Williams spent last year as a member of the Utah Jazz, though reportedly wasn’t exactly thrilled with the prospect of coming off the bench which was a scenario he was facing after the Jazz picked up Trey Burke in the NBA Draft.

The competition for minutes in Atlanta would be relatively minimal (at least with the rosters current construction) and with money to spend, it seems like a relatively ideal situation for Williams.

The former Alabama talent averaged nearly 13 points and over 6 assists last season in Utah.
