Nick Diaz is looking for a fight. After previously saying that he was thinking about retiring from the sport, Diaz has got the sudden itch to return to the octagon. UFC president Dana White said that Diaz has approached him asking for a fight after some personal issues have left him hungry for a comeback.
“He said he broke up with his girlfriend and wants a fight. Dana, get me a fight,” said White, via MMA Weekly.
After his brief retirement, White had said there will be a place for Diaz if he had a change of heart, because he is still under contract with the organization.
“Nick Diaz is under contract with the UFC. Whenever Nick Diaz wants a fight, we’ll be more than happy to get him a fight,” White said.
There is no further information about a potential date or opponent for Diaz’s return to the octagon, but it looks like a matter of time until the former welterweight contender brings his slap boxing back in to the cage.
An interesting fight for Diaz, and one that he has previously asked for, would be a potential match with former middleweight champion Anderson Silva, but it looks like Silva will be booked with a rematch with Chris Weidman before Diaz could get that fight.
