Cleveland Cavaliers: Andrew Bynum Overweight, Needs To Lose 15 Pounds

The Cleveland Cavaliers decided to sign Andrew Bynum to a relatively cautious contract, and the team is hoping that he will play more games for the them than he did for the Philadelphia 76ers (zero). However, before Bynum is ready to get back on the basketball court, he will have to shed some weight according to his agent David Lee.

“Actually, there was no reason to have him work out,” Lee said. “His skill level’s not in question, so there’s no reason to work out. The reality is he has not picked up the ball in some time and he has to get his weight down. He’s got to lose probably about 15 pounds, which is not a big deal. But to get on the floor you’ve got to reduce your weight, otherwise you risk injury.”

It’s no surprise that Bynum is overweight, as he only just finished his rehabilitation program following the season-ending knee surgery he had in March. For a fellow of Bynum’s size, dropping 15 pounds will probably not be that hard, and is just about getting back into shape for training camp.
