Manchester United have been rumored to be very willing to offer Real Madrid the big bucks in order for Cristiano Ronald to return to the club. Despite the fact that Ronaldo has said that he is happy in the Spanish capital, Manchester City have also expressed interest in the mercurial goal-scoring machine.
City chairman Sheik Mansur has made it clear to Soriano that should Ronaldo come onto the market, City have to do everything possible to clinch his signature.
Ronaldo has two years left of his current deal in Spain, but despite making public claims a new deal is close, Real have yet to make ANY formal contract offer.
That has increased optimism at United that they can seal a stunning summer transfer – though City’s late interest will cause concern at Old Trafford.
According to Daily Star, City would be willing to match and surpass whatever their cross-city rival would offer for Ronaldo.
Ronaldo seems all but off the market at the moment, but unless he decides to extend his current contract this summer, he could potentially be available next year. Still, if Ronaldo ever returns to the Premier League, it’s hard to imagine him going to any other club than United.
