Venus Williams Hopes To Be Ready For US Open

Venus Williams has been suffering from a lower back injury as of late, and is hopeful to return for the final Grand Slam event of the year. Her last appearance in a major was the first round of the French Open, where she was upset. She was forced to withdraw from Wimbledon this past month from the injury after 16 consecutive appearances at the All England Club.

No one wants to see the World’s former No. 1 leave the game of tennis from an injury, and she doesn’t want to leave that way either. Williams said this about her health,

“I’m feeling better, I’ve been working hard and rehabbing. I just have to take my time until I feel 100 percent. It’s just difficult to play tennis when you have an injury. It’s hard to be confident when you’re not prepared.

I know I for one would love to see Venus appear in Flushing for this year’s final Grand Slam, but only time will tell as she approaches a tune-up tournament before the major. What do you think? Do you think her time to keep playing tennis at a high level as passed? Or will she be able to come back from the injury and perform better?
