The Boston Celtics traded away Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets as they look to move on and focus on the future. Paul Pierce spent his entire career with Boston up until this summer and Kevin Garnett came along later.

But both played a role in helping the Boston Celtics win the 2008 NBA Title.

They were fan favorites and losing them was tough. But there will always be love for Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce in Boston. Pierce could see his number retired one day.

Taking out full page ads has become a staple in the sports world. The Celtics organization took out this full-page ad in the Boston Globe on Friday. It is still a classy move from an organization that had to make the smart business decision to focus on the future.

The ad pictures Garnett and Pierce holding trophys after their NBA Championship run. In green are two big words: “thank you.” It then lists what they’re thankful for: their heard, their passion, their sacrifice.
