After the Cleveland Cavaliers decided to take a risk on often-injured center Andrew Bynum, it made no sense for them to continue their pursuit of Greg Oden. With the Cavaliers unwilling to add two centers with bad knees, the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat are reportedly in the lead to land the former No. 1 overall pick.
From Marc Stein of ESPN.com:
Just got firm word that Cavs — after signing Andrew Bynum — are no longer pursuing Greg Oden. Mavs now IN Oden race led by Spurs & Heat

The Mavericks could try to jump to the lead after missing out on Dwight Howard, but if Oden is just looking to win he would be better off to go to one of the teams that made an appearance in the NBA Finals last season.
It’s hard to imagine Oden getting anything other than a minimum contract, but if he can stay healthy he could provide a team with some solid and valuable minutes inside.
