The Dallas Mavericks landed former Miami Hurricanes guard Shane Larkin in the first-round of the 2013 NBA Draft. Unfortunately for the Mavs, Larkin suffered an injury during summer league practices that will keep him out for two to three months. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Larkin suffered a broken ankle during the practices.

Wojnarowski wrote:

The worst part for Larkin is that the injury could keep him out for the start of the team’s training camp, which is a crucial time for an incoming rookie. Larkin could also end up missing preseason games.

The good news for the Mavericks is that they have added Israeli guard Gal Mekel and former Milwaukee Bucks guard Monta Ellis during free agency.

With the injury to Larkin, a number of players will now have a greater opportunity at the Las Vegas Summer League.
