DJ White Added to Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets Trade

The trade that sent Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets became official today, but one small, final piece was also added in the trade.

In addition to Pierce, Jason Terry and Garnett, the Nets also acquired forward D.J. White from the Celtics, a five year veteran out of Indiana University.

Per Gary Washburn:

#celtics-#nets trade is now official, with a small wrinkle that wasn’t reported before in DJ White going to Brooklyn. KG, PP and Jet to BK

It’s not known if the addition of White was for salary cap purposes, who is owed just over $1 million dollars for the upcoming season or not. Either way, it’s unlikely White spends any time with the Nets as his contract is not guaranteed if waived before the first of August. If the Nets don’t waive him by the end of the month, his deal becomes fully guaranteed after that.

White played in 12 games for the Celtics last season, posting 2.4 points and 1.1 rebound in seven minutes per contest.

Prior to White’s stop in Boston, he was a member of the Charlotte Bobcats where he played a much more productive 20 minutes a game for two seasons.
