Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith are fighting for the New York Jets starting quarterback position. Sanchez earlier had vowed to win the Jets quarterback competion over rookie Geno Smith.

Well inviting everyone out to your former high school for extra workouts and Geno Smith not being there certainly would help you get a leg up on the competition.

While it is noticeable that Geno Smith isn’t there, Sanchez said he invited him.

“Everyone was invited,” Sanchez told NFL Network’s Michelle Beisner on Friday in a one-on-one interview to air on “NFL Total Access” Friday night. “I sent out an email to everybody, some guys got back quicker than the others, but everybody was invited. It’s not a big deal that he is not here.”

I’m sure a quarterback who is fighting for his career with a rookie thinks it’s “no big deal” that Geno Smith isn’t there. He probably is thrilled that Geno Smith isn’t there.

And if he isn’t he should be thrilled. More importantly he better take advantage of this opportunity.
