Brandan Wright Likely Will Return to Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have been in continued discussions with both Elton Brand and Brandan Wright about returning for the upcoming season and it appears they’re close to a deal with the former North Carolina product.

Per Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas:

It’s a virtual certainty Brandan Wright returns to Mavs. Sides discussing deal in $4M per year range. Might be 2-year deal.

Wright hasn’t exactly been a hot commodity this offseason, despite having a solid season for the Mavericks last year. There’s no word if Wright’s return would halt Brand’s potential return as that is more likely pending on the Mavs’ attempts to lure Samuel Dalembert to Big D.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has stressed his ‘two year’ plan so one may assume that bringing Wright back on a two year deal (assuming that’s the case) may come with a team option for next offseason. Either way, it appears Wright will be back in Texas for the upcoming season.

Wright had the best season of his eight year career with Dallas, posting 8.5 points a game with 4.1 rebounds.
