Chicago White Sox Beat Philadelphia Phillies in Extra Innings

The double-header between the Chicago White Sox and the Philadelphia Phillies got off to an exciting start on Saturday. Shortstop Alexei Ramirez hit an RBI double in the top of the 11th inning to put the White Sox up 4-3, then scored on an error by Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins. A hit by catcher Humberto Quintero scored left fielder Daren Ruf in the bottom of the 11th for the Phillies, but the team was unable to muster another run to extend the game further.

The Chicago White Sox are now 37-53 on the season. The Philadelphia Phillies fell to 46-48, eight games behind the Atlanta Braves for first place in the National League East.

Relief pitcher Ramon Troncoso earned the win for the White Sox and is now 1-2 on the year. Relief pitcher RC Ramirez recorded the loss for the Phillies.

The second half of the double-headed will begin at 8:45 pm EST. Hector Santiago will be taking the mound for Chicago while John Lannan is scheduled to start for Philadelphia.
