When the Houston Rockets agreed to terms with Dwight Howard, it was expected that the franchise would attempt to trade Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik – both for salary cap purpose and for more of a veteran presence around Dwight and James Harden.
However, according to Jonathan Feigen, Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said that both Harden and Howard told him they want to keep Lin and Asik in Houston.
@dmorey, calling self assistant GM, on Lin, Asik: “Reality is James and Dwight want to play with Jeremy and Omer. They’re going to be here.”
Asik of course was not thrilled with the Howard acquisition, requesting a trade after the Rockets announced their intentions to sign the former Los Angeles Lakers big man but maybe time will heal all wounds?
Either way, trade request or not, it appears the four players are playing nice and that Morey doesn’t have much of a desire to move either Lin or Asik.
Of course, that should change when Dwight gets tired of one of them in about, oh, an hour or so.
