The Philadelphia Phillies have placed center fielder Ben Revere on the disabled list today. He suffered a broken right foot in game 1 of a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox. He was at bat in the 11th inning when he hit a foul ball that drilled him in the foot, ultimately breaking it. To make matters worse, the Phillies lost that game, 5-4.
Revere has no homers on the season, but has 17 RBIs in 78 games with Philadelphia in his first season with the team. He previously spent three seasons with the Minnesota Twins. Revere also has a .305 Batting Average, and has been on a bit of a hot streak as of late, with a 10-game hit streak.
He will be seeing a specialist on Monday, after getting X-rays today that positively revealed the break.
The Phillies (46-48) are currently in third place in the NL East, 8 games back of the division leading Atlanta Braves (54-40).
