Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis hit his 37th home run of the season on Sunday as his team beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-4.
It was the fourth straight game that Davis has homered in. With 37 dingers, Davis is now tied with Reggie Jackson for most home runs by an American League player before the All-Star break. Barry Bonds holds the major league record (39 set back in 2001). Davis is also currently second in the majors in RBIs with 93, trailing only Detroit Tiger Miguel Cabrera. (According to ESPN Stats & Information, Davis and Cabrera are the only two players ever to have 30 home runs and 90 RBIs before the All-Star break).
It has been a remarkable season for Davis. With 66 games remaining in the year, he has already set personal bests in home runs and RBIs.
