Metta World Peace has recently become a free agent after clearing the waiver wire and there is already a team emerging as a potential suitor for his services, despite his rumblings that he was more interested in playing in China than the NBA. According to the reports, World Peace and the New York Knicks have “strong mutual interest“.
With that interest, the two sides will begin talking.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Knicks and World Peace will meet in Las Vegas, where the team is currently participating in the summer league. Wojnarowski considers the Knicks a clear front-runner to land the veteran perimeter player.
This news comes less than an hour after it was reported that Knicks head coach Mike Woodson said he believes he could coach World Peace as he went on to compliment his skill set.
It would be an interesting fit for World Peace, but one that could only help the Knicks as they look to make a deep postseason run. If World Peace wanted to make an NBA title run before calling it a career, he will have a great chance near his hometown.
