Yesterday, the track and field nation was stunned with the news that American Tyson Gay admitted to failing a drug test. Well today there is more of the same news, however it takes place on the field portion of the sport.
Allison Randall, a discus thrower from Jamaica, has come forth as another athlete who has used a banned substance. Randall admitted that she was one of five Jamaican athletes who tested positive a drug test last month during the national championships in June. However, Randall seemed confused about the test results; she said she was “shocked and surprised” when she heard the news.
The Associated Press also had some information regarding two of the other four athletes that tested positive for a banned substance,
Two of Jamaica’s marquee sprinters, Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson, tested positive for the stimulant oxilofrine at the same meet. They say they didn’t knowingly break any rules.
She is trying to get her name out of this discussion with another test sample, but as of right now no other tests have been done. And as for the final two Jamaican athletes who tested positive, their identities remain to be a mystery.
