Metta World Peace traveled to Las Vegas today, just one day after landing in free agency after he cleared waivers. World Peace was expected to meet with the New York Knicks, who are in Vegas for the NBA Summer League, and the meeting is exactly what took place.

As it turns out, the “strong mutual interest” between the two sides was enough to hammer out a deal in a matter of hours.

The two sides agreed to a two-year contract.

From Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

For what it is worth, Artest texted the following to Sam Amick of USA Today, ”No. I’m still talking to other people.”

Wojnarowski has a pretty great track record with his scoops, but if Amick’s text came before the reports then it is something to keep an eye out on. With World Peace, you never know.
