Every year, there are many, many interesting and/or hilarious stories that emerge from SEC Media Days. The first in the potentially long line of said stories was reported by the Palm Beach Post’s Jason Lieser on Twitter:
Not a joke: Dominique Easley was asked a question about Bear Bryant & didn’t recognize the name. He asked if it was some kind of cartoon.

In fairness to Dominique Easley, who could be an incredibly bright individual, it is pretty unforgivable to not recognize the name of one of the legends of college football, especially in this region of the country. It is entirely possible that he went blank, but the “some kind of cartoon” reference is one of the best things I’ve ever read.
Easley is a 6-foot-2, 280 pound defensive lineman who registered 8.5 tackles for loss and 4 sacks last year as a junior. Frankly, that sounds like a pretty promising player given his choice in university and conference, and anyone who can register that many snaps for a top-25 program should be given the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully for his sake, Easley will be replaced on the media marquee by something that Johnny Manziel does or that Nick Saban says, but for now, he’ll be known as the “Bear Bryant” guy.
