Officials of the Kansas City Royals told Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star that they are considering calling up relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera in the next few days.

Not that great of an ERA, it being 5.20 in 29 appearances with the Royals this season. Herrera has been demoted twice, but has a solid 17/2 K/BB ratio over 11 and 2/3 scoreless innings in his last 5 appearances with the Royals Double and Triple-A clubs.

A talented hard throwing 23 year old could bounce back if he does get called up again this season. Nothing is for sure yet but it sounds like there is a good chance he will end up with the major league club again.

On the major league club with his 5.20 ERA, he has a 3-5 win/loss record. His average for hitters against him is somewhat of a low .236 with 33 strike outs.
