NaVorro Bowman Gives Colin Kaepernick Hat Advice
By Mike Dyce
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was spotted wearing a Miami Dolphins hat. That created a rumbling amongst 49ers fans who weren’t thrilled. That rumbling turned into a full blown outrage after a smug and inconsiderate Instagram post from Kaepernick defending the hat.
Finally, he posted a picture on Instagram of him in a 49ers hat and San Francisco colors.
49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman appeared on NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access” and was asked for his take on the “hat gate” incident. More specifically, Willie McGinest asked Bowman if he had told Kaepernick it was disrespectful.
“This is a huge mistake by Kap,” Bowman said, per a short video clip on NFL.com. “I am sure he understands that now. But in his defense, we’re young. In our era these days, we like to match our snapbacks with our outfits.”
Warren Sapp saw an opportunity to take a jab at Kaepernick’s outfit choice.
“The hats now these days are very important to the outfits, man,” Bowman said. “Kap, I understand what you did, but let’s stay away from the NFL teams. Go to the NBA, go to college or the baseball hats.”
Warren Sapp asked Baltimore Ravens wide receiver about sticking to hats from other sports to avoid this situation.
“That’s the rule, for the most part, to stay out of conversations like this,” Smith said as the panel laughed.
