The New York Knicks have been flirting with a variety of free agents this offseason during the NBA free agency period despite not having a lot of money to work with.
The latest free agent to receive attention from New York is Kenyon Martin.
Jared Zwerling of ESPNNewYork.com says the two sides are in talks:
“We are still very interested in Kenyon and giving him full consideration,” said Grunwald, who can only offer the 35-year-old forward a contract in the veteran’s minimum range. “We’re just having discussions with Kenyon and his agent, and they’re going pretty well at this time.”
The Knicks could use the depth, but there is just not a lot of cash to go around. Up to five teams have supposedly been interest in Martin, so a team out-bidding the Knicks is a good possibility.
Martin still has a little to offer. So do the Knicks. We’ll see if something actually develops.
