It is being reported that veteran wide receiver Santonio Holmes will begin training camp on the active Physically Unable to Perform list.

I can’t possibly imagine what goes through the mind of a New York Jets fan. A season where they struggled offensively, trading their best defensive back and releasing other key players in the process, those thoughts couldn’t be good. The injury occurred in Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers after he turned around after making the catch looking to make his way up field but lost his footing in the turf, eventually injuring himself and fumbling the ball in the process.

Having one of the greatest catches in Super Bowl history for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII, things haven’t really gone well for Holmes since being traded from Pittsburgh. He’s coming off of a Grade 4 or most severe Lisfranc injury, which is a franchise in the mid-foot. An injury like this has prevented him from doing any type of off-season work outs with the team.

This injury could be a major problem for not only Santonio Holmes, but for the New York Jets. Holmes knows himself that he could become a cap casualty next season and doesn’t want to hit the free agency market with a bad wheel. So it will be interesting to see what the Jets will decide to do with the 8 year veteran.
